How our seaside holiday turned in to a Hospital trip!

How our seaside holiday turned in to a Hospital trip.

We thought we would take the children away to Mablethorpe for a week.
Last time we went away was nearly three years ago to the same place for our Honeymoon (we took our eldest so we stayed in the UK)

We arrived on the Friday and had a little look around, we went across the road to the beach where Deacon managed to fall over face first in a massive puddle of salt water. He was drenched, but it was hilarious and also provided the first lesson that sand will get anywhere! We went for a little paddle and managed to get trapped by high tide which obviously Deacon found hilarious. (I guess me and Dwaine would of if it wasn't for the DEAD jelly fish on the beach.)
So after an eventful half an hour on the beach we went and grabbed some food and settled in the caravan for the night.
The boys loved having everything on one floor and the idea of two toilets made the eldest very happy.

Saturday morning we wake up and the clouds were grey and the rain came down. This was not going to deter us. (I mean it what British people are trained for to Holiday in the rain.)
Dexter woke with a bit off a runny nose and a cough, the cough suddenly developed in to a barking cough. You could of mistaken him for the seals across the road. We suddenly realised we had a case of croup. Of course we would of as we are on holiday and well the nearest urgent care unit is about one hour away. So we managed it ourselves with medicine.
Saturday night I was awake with him as he could only get comfortable sleeping while upright.
Sunday comes and Dexter's breathing is becoming more laboured and, as they say sea air helps with breathing problems we went out for a walk.
By Sunday night he went to sleep about 6pm, by 8pm we called 111.
His breathing had gotten worse and he was now breathing with his diaphragm.
The ambulance was called and turned up about an hour later.(it had to come from Skegness 1 hour away)
They gave him oxygen with Sulbutamol to help open his air ways. This didn't help him.
On our trip in to Hospital he was given more oxygen with Salbutamol this time it helped (after he let us give it him).
We arrived at hospital and after a 4 hour wait we saw the Pediatrician who gave him a dose of steroid to bring down the swelling in his larynx.

The steroid helped straight away and you could hear his breathing getting better.
Luckily we went on the be able to enjoy our holiday and has a few more days of arcades and fun times.

I do have to say though the Ambulance Crew and all the Nurses and Doctors at the Hospital were all amazing. They even made a poorly boy smile and feel comfortable, when he was a little scared.  Yet again proving how invaluable our NHS is.

Where will parenting bloggers be in 10 years?

Where will parenting blogger be in 10 years?

Well what an interesting question! Being a newbie parenting blogger this got me thinking! Would i still be blogging in 10 years? Would i still be blogging about parenting stuff? Would i run out of thinks to say?

Then i got to thinking about all the established parenting bloggers! Are some only seeing success because of them having young children? Or no matter what will people always be able to relate? Or are teenagers, just not that interesting, to read about so, essentially the blogger will be a personal blogger, rather then a parenting one?

Personally in 10 years my kids will be 14 and 11 and although slightly independent they will still be at home, still giving me a million and one things to write about.

What about the bloggers whos kids will be adult by then? Will they become reminisant parenting bloggers? Or will there be a new niche of parenting of adult children, who are waiting to become a granparent blogger?

However the biggest question is will there even be bloggers in 10 years? With the digital age changing so fast. (Trust im 29 and have no clue about most things digital.) Will we need to adapt and become something else we may or may not understand?

Either way with all my questions asked i no one thing as a parent to 2 boys, life will always a crazy mine field, that even if blogging doesnt exist, whatever way i can share the amazing moments, and the quite frankly shit moments of being a parent i will be there!

I wonder what others think of this question. Even more interesting would be if anyone thinks they have an answer to the question!

She's a super mum and i'm a mess

She's a super mum and i'm a mess

This came up with a mum friend of mine! I finally thought 'yes i wasn't the only one'.

When my first son was born well i was, a big fat mess! Yep a complete mess and fat i put 4 stone on! The mess part was because i had an infection in my episiotomy and the fat bit well i ate to much chocolate cake! We all learn by our mistakes!

About 6 months after having my eldest, i started to look at other mums and most seemed younger then me and i was only 25!
Anyway they seemed like super mums, their babirs were dressed and looked adorable, they were dressed and looked amazing with their hair, nails and make-up done! They looked like they would of pre baby! I was jealous a little bit i'm not going to lie.

I was lucky if i remembered to brush my teeth and hair on the same day! I was still in stretchy jeans and maternity tops! Which might i add either had baby sick, wee or poo all over! Make-up was a distant memory and as for my nails, they were as short as possible, to stop pop from getting underneath!

Also these other mums were outside, i was watching from my living room window (creepy i know).  I barely left the house for 1. I was breastfeeding and didn't feel comfortable in public and 2. My son had allergies and was sick alot, therefore fed about every 60-90 mins!

I felt a bit of a failure to be honest! How did these young girls do it?  What kind of witchcraft did they do, so they could have it all together, yet here i was kind of falling apart!

Then after talking to other mums i realised i was the normal one! I looked after my baby on my own! Yes i had a husband but he worked crazy hours at the time! I had family to help, but i raely asked for it! On a day to day basis my hair, nails and make-up didn't bother me! Yes i was now bigger then i was, oh well i can get rid of some fat!

4 years on and i have another child to! I leave the house all the time. I do sometimes forget to brush my teeth still, make-up hardly touches my face and my hair is in a ponytail! I am still a mess and i have just started to lose weight!

I am not a failure though! I do everything for my kids and its ok if i look a mess! I admire the women who look amazing i need your powers! I am not jealous anymore, i am happy being the hot mess of a mum that i am!

If your a new mum, its ok to look a mess and be a bit flabby, and its ok to look amazing and flawless! You do whatever is right for you and your child. Do not try and me someone you aren't. Do not judge or compare yourself! You never know that mum you see, maybe this is the first time she looked put together after a baby! No matter what we all look amazing! Own your skin and own your mind!
